Epicenter – Day 2

About 300 students are now at Epicenter. Last night they heard Bret Ogburn describe some key turning points or “epicenters” in his life – becoming pregnant soon after marriage, meeting Jesus during college, the wonder of knowing that God deliberately inserted himself into the world of men to take on our sin.

Today students invited others to experience an epicenter with Jesus. Many of them entered their digital neighborhoods – through the power of Facebook – and invited their friends to consider Jesus.

They spent part of the afternoon distilling their life stories down to three minutes. I was able to capture some of these testimonies on video which I am looking forward to showing to you soon.

Epicenter is here!

Today Epicenter begins. Over 300 students will ring in the New Year in Albany, New York as they grow in relationship with Jesus.

Students will spend a day partnering with churches to introduce the lost in Albany to Jesus. They will reconnect with their friends from campus. They will worship Jesus.

The main speakers are Greg and Charmaine Lillestrand, Cru staff members for the past 25 years. They were pioneers in taking the gospel to Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union after the end of the Cold War.

Last year students learned about “5 Things” that will launch and sustain them during a lifetime of ministry. Below, you can watch a 5 minute Cliff Notes version of this talk illustrated by a student. This year they will be challenged to build God’s kingdom.

Please pray for students as they arrive at the conference today. Pray that they would come desiring to hear from Jesus this week. Pray that they would accept the challenge to invest their lives in fulfilling the Great Commission during this generation.
