Truly Good News

How might you introduce future world leaders to Jesus? Only 0.014% of those born outside the US attend college in the US. Many in this exclusive group become leaders in their home country.

Bridges, a Cru ministry, focuses on introducing these international students to Jesus.

This past Easter, on campus here in Orlando, our staff showed some of these leaders a version of the Jesus Film called “The Story of Jesus for Children.”

When the movie ended, students broke into small groups to discuss what they had just seen. Our staff sat with two graduate students from China.

One of the students had recently become a follower of Jesus. He was excited to share his story with the group!

His friend, the other grad student, listened quietly and then replied, “It truly is good news! I believe it to be true.”

He said he wanted to put his faith in Jesus, if God would accept his small faith. He was so humble and sincere.

He had been studying the Bible for a year and his friends had been waiting for this moment.

Tears welled up in the eyes of those in the group. They prayed for him and for his internship with a difficult advisor.

With faith like a child, this Chinese grad student was welcomed into relationship with Jesus.

Bridges is one of the Cru ministries we work behind the scenes to serve. Thank you for helping us do that. You are a part of reaching international students and future world leaders!

Answers to Prayer

Finance Together 2016

Cru’s CFO reminds Cru staff members that their skill in finance enables people to meet Jesus.

Last week we needed God’s help even more than usual. We sent out an email asking you to join us in prayer. (If you’d like to receive future requests, please email us!)

Nate was helping with a conference for Cru staff members in finance and was gone much of the week. Kim was helping to give cookies to students at a local college.

The conference. Nate’s finance conference went very well. Cru staff from around the USA were encouraged in their behind the scenes financial roles. Their skills enable others to effectively accomplish the giant task of taking the gospel to the world.

Leaders came who work with the military, inner city, the Jesus Film, families, people in crisis, athletes, students, etc.… Ninety in all!

The cookies. The cookies were a hit with students at the University of Central Florida. They texted spiritual questions to receive free cookies.

Some of the questions were: “How can there be only one God?” “Why are there still so many difficult things happening in the world?” “How can I know if I’m doing the right things in my life?”

While the students will eventually need answers, our job was to begin an ongoing conversation.

We sought to understand why their question was important to them. We tried to learn about their backgrounds. Of course, some students just wanted cookies!

Kim delivered cookies with a group of mostly freshmen Cru students who had never done anything like this before. They were excited for their campus to know that God loves them.

Thank you for praying!

Increasing Time for Students

Winter Conf Meeting

Twelve hundred Cru students worship at one of ten Cru Winter Conferences.

Thousands of students attend Cru conferences every year.

A freshman might attend a Fall Retreat and make his first Christian friend on campus.

A sophomore might spend a summer in South Africa tutoring and loving on orphans because he heard a call to missions at a Winter Conference.

A junior might spend her spring break at an evangelism training conference in Panama City Beach, Florida, being equipped for a lifetime of sharing her faith.

This past fall, Nate has worked to improve Cru’s system for handling the finances behind the scenes for these conferences.

In a helpful—though admittedly unscientific—survey, we’ve found that this has given Cru staff an additional 439 hours for ministry per month!

Those are hours our field staff are freed up to spend with students, not slogging through a muddle of finances.

Hours for sharing the good news with students.

Hours for building them in their faith.

Hours for preparing them for a lifetime of serving Jesus.

Thank you for partnering with us so students can know Christ and share Him with our world!
