The Gospel: Going Far and Near

2018 Student Contest

Albanian students sign up for the More Than a Carpenter reading challenge.

More Than a Carpenter, Evidence That Demands a Verdict, Answers to Tough Questions—these are just three of the 147 books written or co-written by Josh McDowell.

The Josh McDowell Ministry distributes Josh’s books around the world in print and electronic media. A bored north African Muslim traveling to southern Europe by ferry might download an electronic copy of More Than a Carpenter from a MyFi hotspot carried by a Christian passenger.

This past fall over 1,000 copies of More Than a Carpenter were given to Albanian students. They read the book and took a 50 question test to win an iPad.

Speakers trained by Josh McDowell bring the gospel near. They conduct seminars on the effects of pornography. Between Christmas and New Year’s about 2,000 Cru staff and students attended these seminars at Cru Winter Conferences in the US.

Over 90% of the students indicated that sex or pornography had created problems for them; over 75% felt controlled by their sexual desires.

A female student told a seminar speaker, “Thank you for coming. I prayed for someone to talk about overcoming pornography. I’ve been addicted to it for a long time and didn’t tell anyone. I am so ready to be free from this sin. I now know that I am not the only one struggling and my battle is not to be fought alone. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

This winter Nate has been helping the Josh McDowell Ministry to be more efficient with their financial resources. Thank you for helping take the gospel to the world!
